IIUM Peer Counselor Day

Assalaamualaikum wbkt.

Hi all of you out there? have u heard about Pebimbing Rakan Sebaya? It is common for Malaysian coz they were being exposed with the group since primary and secondary school. Then, do you know that the same group exist in our campus which it is known as IIUM Peer Counselors?

Well, IIUM PEER COUNSELORS is a special support group under the CSD which provides counseling/consultation services which attended by students who have completed structured modules/trainings of counseling skills. Those students were appointed through an interview and passed certain criteria which enable to them to be a role model among their peers.

IIUM Peer Counselors Day was organized on 31st July 2009 in order to incerase awareness among IIUM students towards services provided by the group. Here, are some stories about the event:

Happy Besday to our HOD

On 24thJuly 2009, we were celebrating besday of our respected Head of Department. She is getting older but we hope her spirits to lead the department is getting stronger and stronger.

This was the special cake to celebrate the event. We bought it from the secret recipe and it was sooooo..yummy and delicious. Actually, we also celebrated the farewell of our previous Assistant Director, Sr. Norzamzarina M. Noor as well as welcomed our new hero of CSD, Br. Kamaruddin Abdul Hamid.

It was a suprised event which she did not know that the party had been setup to celebrate her besday. We really enjoyed the day and it is our hope that she is always in good health condition..gets better rezki and longer life for still contribute to the society.

To our sister norzamzarina, all the best for your career in a new department and hopefully time with us was wonderful moment to be remembered.

To our new family member, we are more than happy to welcome you and hopefully CSD is going to be a nice place for you to expand your skills, knowledge and bright career path as an Assistant Director.

Easy alternative to reach CSD counselors

CSD is proudly to introduce an interesting and easier way to reach the CSD counselors. Now, IIUM students are having opportunities to chat with your counselor from anywhere by just opening your sophisticated PC or laptop and surfing the internet.

The service is simple and quite convinient. You may share any issues with counselors and it is just during the office hours ( 9.00am - 4.30pm).

Here are some guidelines how to start chatting...

1) Go to the IIUM website ( http://www.iiu.edu.my/)

2) Click the staff and students box

3) Click the Students Resources

4) Click the E-Counseling (at the bottom part)

5) For the first time user. Fisrtsly you have to register in order to confirm that you are IIUM students. It is very important to identify that you are IIUM students so that counselors will not entertain any outsiders (priority given to IIUM students only).

therefore, click register

6) in order to confirm that you are IIUM student, please key-in all the requested information. maybe you are afraid if a counselor will know your identity....but do not worry, we know your situation...therefore, your identity is remain anonymous by key-in your preferable nick name/ username.

7) After registering with the system, now you could choose any available counselor and login to the system in order to enter the chat room.

hopefully all of you will enjoy the service. However, we are so sorry if there is no available counselor at the time you are trying to reach counselor. If there is no counselor, It means

*counselors are busy with walk in interview client

*or they are not at the office

*or they are having other important tasks/programs/ courses/meetings

Below is the duty schedule among counselors

PGG New intake for Sem 1 session 2009/2010

Hi out there!

It is interesting to know what is PGG - Personal Growth Group. This is one of special support groups under CSD which aims positive personal growth among group members. By joining the group, you will gain a lot of oppurtunities to enhance your self-confidence, improving your communication and interpersonal skills as well as extending networking with new friends from various kuliyyat in IIUM.

you could find us at our booth (HS Cafe) or just come to CSD (level 2, Administration Building) to register your name. the intake is from 13th - 24th July 2009.
